OVERVIEW

Zambia and Mozambique, both countries where KEPA had offices at the time of this research, have vibrant civil societies with crucial roles to play in efforts to build democratic societies capable of addressing severe developmental needs.

This report examines the nature of civil society in Zambia and Mozambique in relation to problems at a national level and in terms of outside involvement by international development NGOs and global financial institutions. It provides a brief historical overview of both countries followed by a presentation of their respective civil societies.
